Dr. Yash Choksi
Specialty: Gastroenterology
Primary Area of Research: Esophageal diseases
Research Focus
Dr. Choksi’s laboratory investigates how oxidative stress influences immune–epithelial interactions in esophageal diseases. Their research centers on two major areas:
-
Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE): The lab has identified oxidative stress as a key factor in EoE pathogenesis, with potential to guide the development of new therapies.
-
Esophageal Cancer: Their studies have revealed that eosinophils play a protective role in esophageal squamous cancer.
This work is supported by a National Institutes of Health R01 grant. Dr. Choksi also serves as the site Principal Investigator for the APOLLO NCI/DoD/VA cancer biobanking initiative, which connects federal and academic partners to advance cancer research.
