About
Daniel L. Dücker was appointed Executive Director of the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) in April 2022. With more than three decades of leadership experience in veteran healthcare and military service, he leads initiatives that enhance care, expand research, and strengthen partnerships across the region.
Leadership Experience & Service
As Executive Director, Mr. Dücker oversees two Level 1A VA medical centers and 21 outpatient clinics, serving more than 146,000 enrolled veterans across middle Tennessee, southern Kentucky, and northern Georgia. He leads a team of 5,100 employees with an annual operating budget of $1.8 billion. Under his leadership, TVHS has expanded academic affiliations with institutions such as Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Meharry Medical College, supported cutting-edge research, and fostered more than 100 associated health residency programs. He also championed a groundbreaking VA-DoD partnership with Fort Campbell Army Post and Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, resulting in the Fort Campbell VA Clinic — the only joint VA-DoD healthcare clinic in Kentucky and the second in Tennessee.
Professional Focus & Achievements
Before joining TVHS, Mr. Dücker served as Executive Director of the Fayetteville VA Coastal Health Care System, where he led 2,500 healthcare professionals serving 85,000 veterans across 19 counties. He also held leadership positions with the VA Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), the VA Maine Healthcare System, and the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital in Tampa, Florida. A retired U.S. Army Reserve Colonel, Mr. Dücker served nearly 34 years in the Medical Service Corps and earned numerous honors, including two Legions of Merit and the Bronze Star for leadership and meritorious service in Afghanistan.
Current Role & Responsibilities
In his role as Executive Director, Mr. Dücker drives strategic planning, operational excellence, and collaborative partnerships to deliver high-quality healthcare and research initiatives supporting veterans and their families. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Reserve Officers Association, the American Legion, and the Military Officers Association of America.
